Retail veteran David Adams joins Debenhams board

Debenhams has appointed UK retail veteran David Adams to the board as non-executive director.

Adams is best known as the former deputy chief executive and chief financial officer of House of Fraser and former non-executive chairman of Moss Bros and Jessops.

He is also currently the chairman Conviviality, the parent company of Bargain Booze and Wine Rack, as well as holding non-executive positions at Halfords, Hornby, Fever Tree, Elegant Hotels and Thinksmart.

As non-executive director, Adams will join Debenhams’ audit and remuneration committees.

In January, will he become chairman of the department store’s audit committee after Mark Rolf resigns.

Adams worked at House of Fraser from 1997 to 2006.

He has since held several non-executive roles, including chairmanships at Moss Bros and Jessops.

“He has had a long and distinguished career in the retail and consumer goods industries.

“His knowledge of the consumer and leisure sectors as well as his financial credentials will be a great addition to the board.”
