House of Fraser turns Birmingham shop into outlet store

House of Fraser has transformed its Corporation Street store in Birmingham into an outlet store.

All prices are being discounted by a further 20% off at the tills. The message is that “all stock must go”.

The top three floors of the store, which was formerly Rackhams, have now been closed. A series of portable heaters have been plugged in to keep the air warm on the lower floors.

Meanwhile, any departments left where clothes were still neatly folded would soon be joining the rest of the store’s new look, BirminghamLive reported.

Clothes will be sold on rails from now on. Shoes, boots and trainers that were previously being sold on tables on the fourth floor before Christmas have been shifted to ground floor tables to be in the main footwear department.

House of Fraser took over the site from Rackhams in 2003.

Any remaining public loos were closed before Christmas 2022 when the fourth floor sales area remained partly open for ‘clearance’ offers. The escalators now stop at the third floor.
