House of Fraser leaves central London after closing Westfield store

// House of Fraser has left Central London after shuttering its Shepherd’s Bush store
// The department store retailer now has just 30 stores left in the UK – half the number it had before falling into administration

House of Fraser has officially left Central London after closing its store in Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd’s Bush, This is Money reported.

The exit follows its departure from Oxford Street and the closure of its City store, meaning that Croydon is now the department store retailer‘s closest location to Central London.

House of Fraser has closed a number of stores in recent months including those in Leeds, Norwich and Huddersfield with its High Wycombe branch also earmarked for closure.

The retailer will be left with about 30 shops in the UK – almost half the number it had before collapsing into administration in 2018.

Although, House of Fraser isn’t the only department store to have ceased trading in the capital.

Debenhams collapsed two years ago while last month Fenwick said its New Bond Street store will close its doors in 2024 after over 130 years of trading.

Sports Direct bought House of Fraser out of administration for £90 million, just hours after it announced its collapse as last-ditch talks to save it failed and is now part of his Frasers Group.
