£100m Glasgow Harbour retail and leisure outlet planned

Plans have been submitted for a £100 million retail and leisure development in Glasgow Harbour as part of the regeneration master plan for the area.

Peel Land and Property Group has submitted plans to develop a 350,000sq ft, set for completion in 2021 if approved.

The new Glasgow Harbour Lifestyle Outlet would form part of the wider Clyde Waterfront Regeneration Programme.

Peel has already secured planning in principle to develop the 74-acre site in 2008, while completing phase one of the Glasgow Harbour masterplan the same year with the contruction of 1100 apartments.

“We are creating the next generation of outlet destination by delivering a balanced combination of exciting leisure and entertainment with a strong retail offering,” managing director at Peel Lifestyle Outlets Jason Pullen said.

“Our Lifestyle Outlets are 4th generation outlets and far removed from soulless factory outlets. Glasgow Harbour Lifestyle Outlet will have a multi-generational appeal, as operators are supported by events, activities and performance space.”

Peel Group chief executive Steven Underwood added: “The Peel Group is excited to be creating a major retail, leisure and tourism destination on the Clyde which will complement, support and enhance the surrounding area.

“Over the past decade, we have invested over £850 million in major projects across Scotland, creating 5,500 jobs and 3,500 homes. I’m proud to say Glasgow Harbour Lifestyle Outlet will take Peel’s commitment in Scotland to more than £1 billion and we look forward to continuing our positive working relationship with the city.”
