Primark set to defend itself against Vans lawsuit

Primark has been accused of selling copies of Vans’ skateboard trainers that feature the well-known side stripe and waffle sole since 2017.

The value retailer has denied the allegations of trademark infringement.

Vans, which filed a lawsuit in New York’s federal court, said it was set to “impound and destroy” the alleged counterfeit trainers.

It added that Primark’s UK stores stopped the shoe sales last January after being contacted by its lawyers, but Primark continued to sell the shoes in its new US stores until August.

“We disagree with the allegations by Vans and we plan to defend our position,” a Primark spokesperson said.
