Poundland has announced a range of new kids’ toys to take on the high price of the sought-after brands.

The new range includes its own-brand range of building blocks, foam dart guns and die-cast cars all compatible with leading brands.

The discount retailer said the set prices are up to 95 per cent lower than the big toy brands.

Examples include Poundland’s Brix Play, which combats the price of Lego building sets with its £1 price tag.

Another alternative is Poundland’s Urban Blazerz range of die-cast cars, which have been made to fit all types of model tracks and directly challenge the likes of Hot Wheels with its £1 for a two-car set.

Poundland is also offering cheap alternatives to Play-Doh and My Little Pony.

The new toy range is now available and comes as part of a wider range expansion ahead of Christmas.

“Toy companies have a real nerf when it comes to high prices and we’re putting an end to it,” Poundland’s chief toy buyer Richard Brewin said.

“Parents should be able to treat their kids without breaking the bank. We’re delivering hot prices for the hottest toys in the market.”
