Steve Madden has opened its first standalone store in London and revealed plans to expand in the UK after a decade of absence.

The 1552sq ft store opened at Westfield London, and design chief and founder of the eponymous label Steve Madden attended the pre-launch to reveal his expansion plans.

The store will be operated by fellow fashion footwear retailer Kurt Geiger.

The first Steve Madden store in the UK had opened back in 2007 on London’s Broadwick Street, but closed for reasons he said included not being the right location.

Since then, the retailer has traded in the UK online or within department stores.

Meanwhile, Steve Madden has reported rising sales in the third quarter ended September 30, when net sales increased 8.5 per cent to $497.3 million (£378.22 million).
