// The photo and video retailer relocates Birmingham outlet to larger-capacity premises
// The brand new Milton Keynes branch will be its 9th store
Wex Photo Video is slated to open the doors to two new stores in the first quarter of 2020, as the photography and video specialist retailer gears up for further expansion.
The first store to open is the new 3752sq ft showroom at 100 Hagley Road, Birmingham – which is a relocation of a previous store in the city.
Wex said its new, relocated Birmingham store will enable it to stock a greater volume of equipment and extend its customer demonstration areas, as well as offer an integrated gallery space that will host exhibitions, talks and workshops during the year.
Meanwhile in spring, the specialist retailer is slated to unveil an entirely new, 3000sq ft store at Silbury Boulevard in central Milton Keynes.
“We see a healthy future in multichannel retailing and have ambitious plans for 2020 and beyond,” Wex chief executive Louis Wahl said.
“This significant investment on behalf of our Birmingham customers will be followed by a brand new shop in Milton Keynes, with more sites to follow.
“We successfully refitted and integrated the Calumet Photographic shops with our Wex ecommerce operations to create significant like-for-like growth.
“We are confident in the strength of our retail model, combining the widest possible range of photographic products, extra support services and our award-winning customer service.
“We will continue to seek suitable new locations around the UK.”
Wex Photo Video was founded in Norwich in 1997, and was formerly known as Wex Photographic and Warehouse Express.
After the merger with Calumet Photographic in 2017, the retailer expanded and the East London store opened in Commercial Road.
