Mango has opened its first ever store in Newcastle, in one of the most-visited shopping centres in the UK.

The Inditex-owned retailer has opened the new store in the Eldon Square shopping centre.

Mango is seeking to “strengthen its presence in the UK” with the new store, as expansion remains one of its company strategies.

The new store in Eldon Square has a selling space of more than 400 m2 and stocks the Woman line exclusively.

“The opening of our first store in Newcastle is a step further in our strategic goals for international expansion and strengthens our presence in the UK, a strategic market for Mango and one of the most important for the fashion world,” Mango global expansion director, Daniel López said.

The store, which has created 15 new jobs, features the Mediterranean-inspired store concept, New Med, already present in some of the company’s flagship stores around the world, which aims to reflect the spirit and freshness of the brand and is strongly influenced by Mediterranean culture and style.

Sustainability and architectural integration are key to this new concept, which is why new stores feature sustainable materials such as natural paint.

The new Mango store in Eldon Square has a Committed Box, a container in which customers can deposit their unwanted clothing and footwear to give them a second life, in addition to a dedicated click and collect zone for garment collections and returns.

Mango currently has over 40 stores in the UK, including company-owned stores, franchises and concessions in department stores.
