Holland & Barrett bucks high street trend by planning new London store opening

Holland & Barrett will open a new store in London’s Islington area next week, just in time for the end of England’s national lockdown.

Defying wider trends for retailers reducing their exposure to bricks and mortar stores, Holland & Barrett will relocate its previous Angel Islington store to a larger location, adding 1,389 square feet.

“At a time when health and wellness is more important to our customers than ever, we are really pleased to be opening a bigger store and expanding our offer to the community in this vibrant local hub,” Holland & Barrett group retail and property director Anthony Houghton said.

“Angel Central is a retail destination known for its local community and our new home on Upper Street will give the huge Islington catchment of office workers and residents even better access to health and wellness expertise on their doorstep,” Houghton added.

“Holland & Barrett is one of the biggest health and wellness brands in Europe, and it is testament to the pulling power of Angel Central that we have been able to relocate and upsize them in Islington. Angel Central’s £16 million investment works are very nearly complete – as lockdown is lifted we will be able to fully unveil the new-look destination, and to add Holland & Barrett now makes this a very exciting time for our community,” CBRE Global Investors asset manager Ciara Daffy said.

Earlier this year Holland & Barrett announced it had joined forces with Deliveroo to offer a selected range of its most popular health products on the Deliveroo app and website.

The partnership enables customers to order from a range of more than 200 Holland & Barrett products from 50 stores across the UK for delivery in as little as under 30 minutes.
