JD Sports is set to open a new store in Cheltenham’s Regent Arcade, as part of the latest bolstering of the town’s retail and leisure offering.

A new lease has been agreed with the sports-fashion retailer on a 11,000 sq ft store, with plans to open before Christmas in premises formerly occupied by Top Shop following its closure earlier this year.

JD Sports is the latest major retailer to join Cheltenham’s retail and leisure offer in 2021, as Regent Arcade continues to grow in a bid to meet the needs of today’s shoppers post-lockdown.

The lease announcement follows the news that fellow sports outlet Decathlon has also taken a 20,000 sq ft premises and is expected to open in late November.

JD Sports senior group acquisitions manager James Air said: “We are pleased to be opening a new JD store within the heart of Cheltenham town centre, further developing our presence in the South West.

“The new store will benefit from our latest high level store environment, providing a full range of brands from within the JD stable, including several exclusives.”
