Morrisons has opened the doors to its newest supermarket in Kirkby, creating 275 new full and part-time roles.

The store is the first supermarket to open in the town in over 40 years.

Spanning 26,000 sq ft. the shop includes butcher, baker and fishmonger counters as well as Morrisons’ new Market Kitchen proposition where freshly made meals are created by a team of in-store chefs.

In addition to food and groceries, the store will sell Morrisons’ Nutmeg clothing range, homewares and a range of flowers from a florist section stocking both bouquets and single stem flowers for making up into an arrangement.

The addition of the Morrisons Market Kitchen will allow shoppers to eat in or choose to pick up some of the ‘ready-to-go’ meals or have them delivered via Deliveroo.

Morrisons Kirkby store manager Eddie Pritchard said: “We know the residents of Kirkby have been eagerly anticipating the opening of this store, particularly as there hasn’t been a supermarket here for several decades.

“Today, Kirkby gets a brand new Morrisons store with skilled food making at the heart of it and plenty of useful services – we are really looking forward to meeting and serving the community.”
