// Amazon is due to start selling inexpensive Covid PCR test kits to UK travellers
// The tests are government-approved and are priced at £34.99 each
// The tests will be processed at Amazon’s lab in Salford

Amazon is reportedly set to begin selling low-cost Covid-19 PCR tests to UK travellers in an effort to rattle an over-priced market.

The tests are government-approved and will be valid for the UK’s day-two, day-eight and “test-to-release” arrivals programmes.

They are priced at £34.99 each but will also be offered in discounted bundles, The Guardian reported.

Amazon’s international arrivals service could be launched and listed on the government’s approved list of suppliers as soon as this week.

The tests will be processed at Amazon’s lab in Salford, which the retailer set up last year.

It also set up a lab in the US, where it started selling home testing kits in the summer to US shoppers via its website.

The government reintroduced mandatory PCR tests to track the progress and limit the spread of the Omicron variant.

Trust amazon to be late, in the USA, they are stopping PCR tests this month. The CDC has withdrawn the FDA’s Emergency Use Authorization of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel, as of December 31, 2021, due to its inaccuracy.
