The Perfume Shop has said it sold 1.9 million bottles of perfume in the month leading up to Christmas.

It has also revealed its biggest-selling scents of 2021 include Dior Sauvage, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, Paco Rabanne Phantom, Gucci Flora and Jimmy Choo I Want Choo.

The retailer saw retail sales rise by 29% between October and December compared to the same period in 2019.

Meanwhile, Christmas gift set sales rose after speculations over shortages and potential lockdowns, with the retailer reporting 7% more gift set sales overall compared to 2020.

The Perfume Shop achieved particularly strong sales in the week before Christmas when it took 27% of pre-Christmas sales.

“Customers have had another tumultuous year, but the gift of perfume is proving to hit the right note for friends and loved ones to share the love this Christmas,” The Perfume Shop trading director, Andrea Rickard said.

“The personal memories evoked from a perfume and the feel-good spritz of a scent continue to make it a popular choice.

“We’d like to thank all our customers for their support and we’re looking forward to celebrating our 30th birthday with them next year.”
