Greggs has opened its new London flagship branch in the heart of Leicester Square.
The bakery chain, which was founded in Newcastle in 1939, opened the huge shop, dubbed ‘mega Greggs’ with a blockbuster-style premiere in the centre of the West End’s cinema district.
A blue carpet was rolled out for the huge crowds that queued outside the new branch, with the first 200 customers being treated to a free sausage roll and a glass of bubbly.
Drag queen Pasty Kween was at the opening, wearing a bespoke Greggs dress to mark the occasion.
The shop will stock freshly prepared Greggs favourites, including its popular sausage roll, vegan sausage roll and steak bake. Customers will also be able to make click-and-collect orders via the Greggs app.
