Monsoon has today launched ‘Monsoon Bazaar’, which brings smaller sustainable brands onto its website.

The concept launched today with a collection of 40 brands across womenswear, childrenswear and home.

The retailer has opted to work with sustainable brands with Frugi, Trotters, UpCircle and Superga among the labels on the platform, which is a micro-site on the main Monsoon website.

The website reads: “Your gateway to beautiful, design-led pieces from inspiring makers, big and small. We’ve searched high and low to curate this edit of exquisite homewares and fashion finds.

“Here we bring together the best of the brands we admire and the makers who inspire us. Browse original, eclectic and covetable products, each one with a unique approach to their craft and a fascinating story to tell.”

Monsoon director of merchandising and buying Naomi Robertson said: “The idea for Monsoon Bazaar came simply from a desire to support rising entrepreneurial brands in reaching new markets, while sharing products that we love with our Monsoon audience.

“We travel far and wide when we create our Monsoon collections, and we wanted a way of sharing some of the treasures that we encounter.

“The creators behind the brands share so much of what we aspire to: making beautiful and sustainable products, sourced ethically and responsibly. It has been a joy to put the initial collection together,  and we’re excited to share more as we develop Bazaar in the seasons ahead.”

The marketplace launch come as Monsoon Accessorize marches on with its turnaround plan.

Monsoon Accessorize returned to profit in 2021 with sales of £196 million as EBITDA hit £17.4 million.

The retailer was bought out of administration in June 2020 by founder Peter Simon, with more than 100 of its 250 stores rescued.
