Asda has become the first UK supermarket to offer NHS diabetic eye screening in its stores.

It will be available Monday to Friday, with some shops running Saturday clinics.

InHealth works closely with the NHS to ensure a fast, effective referral process for patients that require hospital examination or treatment following the screening.

Asda healthcare partnerships manager Maq Din said: “We understand how important a service such as this is to those in our community, so to bring in such a well-respected company such as InHealth was an easy decision and one we hope will make a real difference.”

Last week, the supermarket donated £100,000 to UNICEF to support its efforts in providing aid to Turkish and Syrian earthquake victims.
