Aldi to create over 800 new store roles before Christmas

Aldi is set to create more than 800 jobs in new stores across the UK between now and Christmas.

The German discount grocer is opening new stores in towns and cities such as Oldham, Flitwick and Coventry as well as many others up and down the country, with starting pay for store assistants at £11.40 per hour nationally, and £12.85 per hour inside the M25, with the supermarket also paying for breaks.

Roles available will include managerial positions, caretakers and cleaners, as well as store apprentices, as it builds on its 40,000 people strong workforce.

Aldi UK recruitment director Kelly Stokes said: “As we continue to invest in new stores, we’re looking for hundreds more colleagues to join our incredible teams across the country.

“Working at Aldi means a great working environment and real opportunities to progress within the business and we look forward to welcoming even more people to be a part of our success in the future.”

Earlier this week the supermarket said it had cut the price on fruit and vegetable products as it looks to pass savings on to its customers amid the cost-of-living crisis.

Ten products are included in the price drop, including avocados, red peppers, baking potatoes and sweetcorn and is the latest price cut move after including household staples such as milk and pasta – lowering the price of almost 100 products.
