Asda slashes prices on over 400 branded and own-label products

Asda has revealed price cuts across 425 of its branded and own-label products.

The reductions come under a £23m investment to slash prices by an average of 11% on some of the supermarket’s most popular items bought by shoppers each week, including nappies, pasta and sausages.

The move comes after the grocer’s latest income tracker found family disposable incomes remained down by over £100 per month for the average household compared to July 2021, despite the CPI inflation rate easing last month.

Asda chief commercial officer Kris Comerford said: “While the headline inflation rate may have eased slightly last month, our own data tells us that many customers are continuing to struggle with rising living costs.

“We have targeted this latest price investment on the products that our customers buy week-in and week-out, to help their shopping budgets stretch further”.

The price cuts are effective from today, across all stores that stock the affected products and online.

Last month, Asda announced it would slash the price of more than 200 of its own-brand products, as it sought to helps customers during the cost-of-living crisis.

Earlier in August, it was also revealed sales at the grocer soared almost 10% as shoppers snapped up its budget range.
