EE branches into ecommerce to sell smart TVs, fridges and kettles

EE will start selling smart fridges, TVs, kettles and fitness products as it branches out into the ecommerce market.

The telco company aims to utilise tactics developed selling its telecoms goods and services to support its venture into consumer electronics.

The move comes after EE was found success in selling video games consoles including Xbox and PlayStation.

The new set of products will be available to purchase online and in some EE stores, including its new EE studios.

EE CEO Marc Allera explained the business felt comfortable in selling other products after it became a “top three or four retailer” for games consoles.

Allera said: “We are taking our learnings selling smartphones – spreading purchase payments, cheap finance, offering bundles and connectivity services – and are bringing that to other categories starting with consumer electronics”.

The company is set to open up its website and app as a sales hub available for all UK shoppers via individual EE IDs.

The business’s largest marketing campaign since its launch will also promote the changes.
