Aldi cuts 180 prices over Christmas in £12m investment

Aldi is investing £12m to lower the prices of more than 180 of its Christmas products over the festive period.

The discounter is reducing prices on the products by over 20% on average, with stuffing, chocolate and prosecco included in the initiative.

Aldi has already reduced the prices of almost 300 products over the past few months.

It also recently unveiled its “Christmas Price Lock” where prices of its food staples remain the same as they were in 2022.

The supermarket’s managing director of buying Julie Ashfield said: “This latest investment is part of our continued efforts to make great quality food affordable for all, from party food treats to iconic Christmas essentials.”

Earlier this month, Lidl beat Aldi as the UK’s cheapest supermarket, ending the discounter’s previous 16-month run.

Consumer group Which? conducted its monthly supermarket price comparison, comparing the cost of a basket of groceries and household essentials.
