Aldi to create 500 new apprenticeship roles this year

Aldi said it will create up to 500 apprenticeship roles across the UK this year.

The discounter said that applications for its scheme have opened, with roles going across stores, buying, logistics and HGV driver roles.

Aldi said store apprentices can earn £8.44 an hour in the first year, rising to £11.83 per hour in their third year with paid breaks.

Apprentices in logistics can earn £10.96 per hour, while HGV drivers can earn £14.13 an hour.

The supermarket said “successful applicants will have the chance to gain industry-recognised qualifications while they earn and will also be eligible for a number of additional benefits,” including discounts, a bike to work scheme and free mortgage advice.

The apprenticeship scheme forms part of the supermarket’s nationwide expansion drive, which saw 6,000 new roles across the UK in total last year.

Aldi UK learning and development director Lisa Murphy said: “We’re on the lookout for hardworking and driven individuals to bolster our Aldi team.

“By joining our apprenticeship scheme, individuals will become experts in their role and receive in-depth skills training at one of the fastest-growing retailers in the country.

“The apprentices of today are the leaders of tomorrow, so we’re always on the hunt for more amazing individuals from all backgrounds to join our team.”
