Ikea slashes thousands of prices following easing cost pressures

Ikea has slashed prices on thousands of goods after benefitting from improvements to purchasing goods costs last year.

The reduced prices were launched across over 1,500 products from 11 January, with a further 1,000 prices to be cut by spring.

Price cuts will be made to some of the retailer’s best-selling products across its living room, bedroom, kitchen, children’s, and storage categories.

Easing cost pressures after the Covid pandemic allowed Ikea to pass on £100m in savings to shoppers.

Ikea UK and Ireland chief commercial officer Michaela Quinlan said:

“By reducing the price of thousands of much-loved Ikea products, particularly at a time when cost of living pressures continue to affect so many, we’re staying true to our vision of creating a better everyday life at home.

“Keeping prices as low as possible is in our DNA and it’s a priority for us to do all we can to make our products affordable, sustainable and accessible to as many people as possible.”

The news comes after price cuts were made across the business’s kitchens and accessories ranges in autumn last year, where more than 1,300 prices were lowered.

In November, Ikea owner Ingka Group expressed confidence that its next round of price cuts would boost sales volumes in the upcoming year.
