Darren Blackhurst has quit his post as Morrisons, just three months after rejoining the grocery giant in another blow for its turnaround plans.

In February, CEO Rami Baitiéh named Blackhurst as interim chief customer and marketing officer, in a role that was expected to become permanent amid a host of leadership changes.

But Blackhurst has said will be standing down, The Sunday Times reports, and the terms of his departure are currently being negotiated. Meanwhile logistics director Craig Taylor has also resigned in recent weeks.

Blackhurst returned to Morrisons earlier this year having previously worked for the grocer between 2015 to 2019 primarily as group commercial director.

When announcing its senior team changes earlier this year, Morrisons said they reflected key areas of focus, as it plans to “refresh and re-invigorate” the business.

It also said the new appointments would play a full part in the “integrated digital transformation programme” currently underway at the retailer.
