Asos was reportedly seeking a London site for its first permanent bricks-and-mortar store after 26 years as an online retailer.
The ecommerce giant is reportedly currently in the process of looking for a 4000 sq ft to 8000 sq ft unit in a high-footfall location.
Oxford Street, Regent Street, Long Acre and King’s Road were among the retail destinations understood to be under consideration.
The move would mark Asos’ first permanent physical store, although the retailer has tested in-person retail through pop-ups and brand partnerships.
It recently hosted a pop-up at Adidas’ Oxford Street flagship to support the launch of the pair’s third collaborative collection.
Asos chief executive José Antonio Ramos Calamonte previously said the business was exploring physical retail options as part of efforts to clear excess stock.
A spokesperson told The Sun: “We’re always exploring new ways to bring the Asos experience to life for our customers.
“We’ve learnt a lot from recent pop-ups and partnerships, and while there’s nothing to share just yet, we believe physical retail can play a role in how we continue to meet customers where they are.”
The news comes as Topshop, which is majority-owned by Asos, was also reportedly preparing to return to the high street with a London store within the next 12 months.
Topshop’s estate was closed in 2021 after the collapse of former parent company Arcadia in 2020.
Earlier this year, Asos also launched an AI-generated model to help shoppers find the right size clothing.
