John Lewis has unveiled a new vodcast, hosted by broadcaster and presenter Angela Scanlon.

Titled ‘Gift List’, the series explores how different celebrities approach gifting. The first episode, which is out today (3 September), stars broadcaster Louis Theroux. In the episode, Theroux comments on how he prefers being on the receiving end of a gift and explains the ‘high stakes’ of selecting the perfect gift for others.

He also admits to “accidently” trying to steal a silver spoon from Joan Collins, but he was caught by Collin’s sister in law.

In one anecdote, he highlights how he was upstaged in gift giving at his grandmothers 100th birthday by action star Tom Cruise.

Scanlon said: “We’ve all received that one gift that made us laugh, cry, or scratch our heads in total confusion – but whichever it is, it makes for a great story. So I’ve joined forces with gifting experts, John Lewis, to uncover these golden nuggets from some of my favourite people.

“Kicking-off with Louis Theroux was a dream – he brought all the charm and unfiltered confessions you’d expect. I can’t wait for everyone to give it a listen.”

Rosie Hanley, John Lewis’ marketing and loyalty director, said: “Nobody does gifting quite like John Lewis, and ‘Gift List’ is a celebration of all the special, funny and unforgettable moments that are created by gifting.

“Angela Scanlon’s effortless humour and infectious energy make every interview feel like a catch-up over coffee with a close friend. We know our customers will be hooked from episode one.”

‘Gift List’ is made up of six episodes, with one episode being released every three weeks. It will be available on YouTube, John Lewis’s website, Spotify and Apple.

The series is part of its ‘The Box Studio’ creation platform. Content on the platform focuses on gifting and stars such as Daisy May Cooper, Tom Davis and Stephen Libby have already popped up to highlight their favourite products.
