Morrisons has been criticised for “refusing” to improve its chicken farm conditions.
The grocer is being asked to follow M&S, Waitrose, and over 570 companies to sign the Better Chicken Commitment, an animal welfare policy that prohibits the use of fast growing breeds and crowded conditions.
This morning, supporters of animal protection organisation Open Cages plastered a ‘Frankenchicken’ image on the window of the Manchester Morrisons store on Piccadilly and inside two adjacent bus stops.

The posters – which show a severely injured chicken in a Morrisons supplier factory – have remained up since 1am.
The original image was covertly shot by Open Cages on a Morrisons chicken supplier farm.
The ‘Frankenchickens’ were found deformed and dying from “extreme” welfare problems. Dead bodies were found left to rot on the faeces covered floor.
Retail Gazette has contacted Morrisons for comment.
