Primark is planning to launch its first new London store in a decade.
The discount fashion giant’s new shop will be based in the former Debenhams unit in the Wimbledon Quarter shopping centre.
The 24,000 sq ft store is scheduled for later in the year, or in early 2027.
It is set to sell the retailer’s women’s, men’s and children’s wear ranges, as well as beauty and homeware.
Primark director of sales for London and the south-east Philippa Nibbs said: “It’s fantastic to announce our first new store in London as we enter our 40th year in the capital.
“We’ve had lots of requests over the years to open here so it’s great to finally make it happen.
“We’re looking forward to sharing more as we get nearer to opening, and in the meantime customers can continue to visit our nearby stores in Wandsworth and Tooting.”
Primark currently operates 11 stores across London, including two sites on Oxford Street, one each in Westfield London, Hackney, Wandsworth, Tooting, Kilburn, Lewisham, Wood Green, Charlton and Woolwich.
Earlier this month, Primark saw an improved performance and market share gains, as owner Associated British Foods (ABF) reported a challenging environment for the months ahead.
In a trading update covering the 16 weeks to 3 January 2026, ABF said Primark’s UK business showed “encouraging” progress, with sales growth of around 3% and like-for-like growth of approximately 1.7% in what it described as a difficult clothing market, particularly over the Christmas period.
