Independent department store Morleys is set to open its third shop in Bexleyheath, south east London, just before the Easter long weekend.

Located in Broadway Shopping Centre, the store has moved in to the two-storey, 40,000sq ft space left behind by the now-collapsed BHS chain and will provide 100 new jobs for the area.

With £3 million spent on Morleys Bexleyheath, the shop features a new store entrance, café and interiors, and will sell accessories, beauty, menswear and womenswear, stationery, homewares, electricals, furniture, toys and haberdashery.

The new Morleys store will also become the ninth under parent company Morleys Stores Ltd, which also owns Elys in Wimbledon, Camp Hopson in Newbury, Selbys in Holloway, Roomes in Upminster, Pearsons in Enfield and Bodgers in Ilford. The other two Morleys stores are in Tooting and Brixton.

Morleys Stores Ltd recently completed a redevelopment of Camp Hopson and aims to take the company‘s annual sales to £120 million.

“The group has significantly grown in recent years in terms of sales and investment, adding new and exciting shopping experiences to areas across the south east,” Morleys executive chairman Bernard Dreesmann said.

“The Bexleyheath store will undoubtedly continue this success and provide a first class retail offer to the area, with a fantastic brand mix and unbeatable customer service.”

Morleys in Bexleyheath will have have its grand opening on Thursday.

“We look forward to unveiling its impressive makeover to customers this month, for what is sure to be a busy opening weekend and Bank Holiday period,” Dreesmann said.
