Coach eyes takeover of Jimmy Choo

Luxury fashion retailer Coach is reportedly set to make a £1 billion bid to acquire Jimmy Choo.

The high end British shoe retailer and brand was put up for sale last week, with the support of its majority owner JAB Holdings based in Germany, just three years after it was listed on the London stock market.

Coach recently hired Joshua Schulman, the former boss of Jimmy Choo, as chief executive, which experts believe would give the company an advantage over rival suitors.

Qatar-based Mayhoola, which owns stakes in luxury brands like Anya Hindmarch, Valentino and Balmain, is also thought to be abother a bidder for Jimmy Choo.

This would be the fourth time Jimmy Choo – made famous for its appearance in Sex and the City, has changed hands since it was founded in the early 90s.

Should Coach be successful in its bid, it would come after its failed £20 billion attempt at purchasing Burberry last year.

The US brand is also looking to takeover accessories firm Kate Spade.
