Asda is seeking a new presenter for its in-store radio station, Asda FM Live, specifically a Liverpudlian with an “extremely broad dialect”.

This could be conceived as a taunt aimed at big four rival Morrisons, which put out a casting call last week though a third party agency for a new advert. The ad was widely criticised following the comment that said “nobody from Liverpool” need apply.

Meanwhile, Asda‘s recruitment post read: “At Asda we know the Liverpool accent is full of warmth, passion and most of all friendliness, that‘s why we‘re looking for a presenter with an extremely broad dialect

We won‘t dictate the playlist to you but it would be nice to have some of our customers‘ favourite scouse artists in there such as The Beatles, Atomic Kitten and ideally Gerry and the Pacemakers – You‘ll Never Walk Alone.

Please note we‘ll take any strength of scouse accent.”
