Non-executive director at Morrisons Irwin Lee has announced he will leave the company at the end of the month.

Lee, who chairs the grocer‘s renumeration committee joined Morrisons last July in an effort to turn the group around.

The announcement comes just days after the supermarket announced a significant deal with Ocado, boosting shares in the company and creating positive forecasts.

“We are very sorry that Irwin is leaving us all with his enthusiasm and drive, and with his extensive supplier knowledge. However, we fully understand and respect Irwin’s decision to move back into a full time executive role and to relocate,” Morrisons’ chairman Andrew Higginson said.
