Amazon’s growth shows no sign of abating as the ecommerce giant expanded further into online retail today with the launch of the new Handmade at Amazon store.
The store features 30,000 handcrafted products sold by over 1000 artisans from the UK and Europe, with hundreds of items being added every day.
Handmade at Amazon features 10 categories, including jewellery, home décor, artwork, kitchen and dining, and furniture, and is available in all of Amazon’s European markets, including the UK.
In addition, a third of the items are available for personalisation and all items are factory-free and handcrafted.
“We have designed a shopping experience for customers looking for unique, handmade items by bringing together many of the best artisans from across Europe,” Amazon Europe seller services vice president Francois Saugier said.
“With Handmade at Amazon, artisans can grow their business, and many of them will now be able to turn their passion into a career.”
Amazon UK seller services director Simon Johnson said the new website provides artisans the opportunity to mass exposure.
“Artisans can be discovered by millions of Amazon customers while having the freedom to do what they do best – create unique, handcrafted products,” he said.
“Knowing that an item has a unique story behind it and is genuinely handcrafted creates a personal experience for customers and makes owning handmade items extra special.”
