BHS is preparing to relaunch as an online retail shop selling both fashion and homewares, less than one month after it departed from the high street for good.

A message was posted on the www.bhs.co.uk domain saying that the iconic British retail brand “will return online soon”, with all the usual products plus new ranges.

“BHS will return online soon, with a great new website and all the products you love (at prices that are just right!), along with stylish new ranges perfect for your home and wardrobe,” the message reads.

The website also says BHS online and its international business were purchased by new investors and will operate under a new trading name known as BHS International Ltd.

That new investor is Qatari-based firm Al Mana, which bought the BHS brand – including the global intellectual property rights, international franchising business and domain names – at the end of June.

Al Mana said it intended to enhance BHS‘ offerings, expand and develop its online presence.

It is understood that BHS‘ former international director David Anderson has been appointed as the new managing director, while former BHS head of tax and treasury Harry Carver is the new finance director and Dominic Chandler reprising his director role.

“The British heritage of BHS is one of quality and value. We are confident that with this acquisition such a legacy will grow and succeed in new markets,” Al Mana said.

“The potential growth opportunities are very exciting.”
