Asda apologises for nationwide card machines glitch

General RetailGroceryNews

Asda has apologised to customers after an issue with its card machines caused long queues at checkouts across the UK.

After scores of shoppers took to social media to complain about the delays, the Big 4 grocer said on Twitter that the problem has been resolved in the majority of its stores.

People shared photos of Asda cashiers using old-fashioned card-readers, while others said stores were only accepting cash.

A spokeswoman from the supermarket chain said yesterday: “We are in the process of resolving a technical issue with our card payment system in stores.

“We‘re continuing to process payments as quickly as we can but apologise to our customers for the inconvenience this has caused.”
