Beauty retailer Feelunique has announced its acquisition of French online cosmetics company The Beautyst.

The Beautyst has one of the largest social media followings in the country. Having launched its French website two years ago, Feelunique says this new addition will help expand its audience in one of Europe‘s leading beauty markets.

“Feelunique‘s unrivalled portfolio of beauty products and The Beautyst‘s large and dedicated online beauty community is a powerful combination,” Feelunique‘s chief executive Joel Palix said.

“The acquisition of The Beautyst further accelerates our vision of becoming the leading player in online beauty in France, which is a strategically important market to us given its currently low online penetration.

“This acquisition will also strengthen our position amongst millennials, a key audience for us.”

The retailer will combine its current customer base with the Beautyst‘s 600,000 followers, positioning itself to cash in on French beauty market expected to be worth nearly £20 billion by 2020.
