Retail Gazette Loves: Marks & Spencer‘s “Spend it Well” campaign

Marks & Spencer‘s new advertising campaign launched across all its platforms earlier this month, encouraging shoppers to focus on quality in their lives and to be prepared to say no to mediocrity.

The retailer‘s new slogan “Spend it Well”, the brainchild of agency Valenstein & Fatt, will now feature across all M&S lines, including both food and clothing.

The first of two TV adverts launched on May 4 and focuses on the retailer’s clothing range, exclaiming life is too short to endure “uncomfy knickers”, “shoes that hurt your feet” or “clothes that cost the earth”.

Another advert set to be released this week, will focus on the retailer‘s food arm. Reportedly an extension of its famous “Adventures in Food” campaign, the new advert will urge customers to say no to mediocre food, too.

“M&S exists to help its customers make the most out of every moment, every minute, and every mouthful,” executive director of customer Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne said.

“‘Spend it Well‘ is about grabbing life, burning the nice candles, wearing your best coat, breaking out the best biscuits, saying no to food that doesn‘t take you to extraordinary places and, yes, never settling for uncomfortable knickers.”
