The UK‘s first Electric Vehicle Experience Centre (EVEC) has officially launched, displaying new electric car technology from a range of leading manufacturers.

The store opened at Centre:MK in Milton Keynes on July 22, and will display cars from Kia, BMW, Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Renault.

The centre is joint owned by Hermes Investment Management and AustralianSuper, and will be run by the UK‘s biggest name in electric car charging, Charge Master.

EVEC‘s launch is part of the city‘s Go Ultra Low Cities Programme, which hopes to see 23 per cent of all car sales be electric or plug-in by 2022.

“We are excited to be supporting this  initiative from Milton Keynes Council that demonstrates an innovative and committed approach to improving the future for the region,” joint owner Ed Sellick said.

“Showcasing the latest  electric  vehicles to the millions of visitors further enhances the centre:mk‘s importance as one of the top 10 prime retail and leisure destinations within the UK.”
