Missguided hires new trading chief

Missguided has hired Robin Gartshore to be its new chief trading officer.

According to Drapers, Gartshore will join the clicks-to-bricks fashion retailer on May 8 and will directly to online chief executive Gareth Jones.

Gartshore’s remit will includes looking after Missguided’s merchandising and trading teams across online, wholesale, retail and franchise.

His career consists of working as head of merchandising at Sainsbury’s for three years, leading the buying team on the UK launch of Amazon Fresh for a year, and most recently, as merchandise director for the N Brown Group.

Gartshore’s appointment comes six months after Missguided hired former Shop Direct ecommerce director Jonathan Wall as its new chief digital officer.

Just weeks prior to that, Gareth Jones, who was the former deputy chief executive at Shop Direct, was installed as Missguided’s chief executive of online.

Founded in 2009, Missguided was an online-only retailer right up until last year, when it opened bricks-and-mortar stores in Kent’s Bluewater shopping centre and Westfield Stratford in east London.

The Manchester-based retailer is also poised expand its business to the Middle East through a partnership deal with retail group Azadea, which will include the roll out of stores, websites and click-and-collect services in the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt.

Missguided has already established a presence in France, Germany and the US.
