Boden sales and profits surge amid overseas growth

A growing overseas customer base has enabled Boden to record an increase in full-year profits and sales in its full year report.

The fashion retailer posted a four per cent growth in pre-tax profits to £27.3 million while overall sales surged 13 per cent to £347.1 million in the year ending December 2017.

Boden said the number of overseas customers grew 14 per cent during the year, while a strong performance in its womenswear range and John Lewis concessions helped drive UK sales.

Boden now plans to drive further investment into its ecommerce platform and personalisation capabilities.

“We made strong progress last year and were delighted with the results achieved; 2017 saw a year of considerable investment and this will continue for the next few years,” chief executive Jill Easterbrook said.

“The investment programme will provide us with a solid platform as we build Boden into an international multichannel retailer.

“We have been targeting key strategic areas of investment, skills, market knowledge and people needed to continue Boden’s international growth in the coming years.

The organisational restructuring within the business will enable us to be even more customer focussed and market driven, whilst at the same time maintaining our strong Boden brand.”
