Boots has poached Aldi’s marketing director Adam Zavalis to become its new director of brand and communications.

Zavalis has been serving as Aldi’s UK marketing boss since 2013 and will take on his new role at Boots on February 25.

He will report to ROI marketing director Helen Normoyle and will be responsible for leading the strategic and creative marketing activities across the retailer’s customer facing channels, as well as social.

“I’m delighted to welcome Adam to Boots. He brings a lot of valuable experience to the role, and as we celebrate the 170th year of Boots this year I, and my colleagues, look forward to working with him to take this amazing brand into the future,” Normoyle said.

In December, Boots announced plans for a cost-cutting drive which will aim to save £800 million in three years.

  1. Congrats to Boots. It sounds like they’re putting together quite the team there. Sure, there’s always some luck involved too, but this type of marketing is definitely still a business task/goal whose success is driven by the quality of the team and its ability to coordinate its efforts.
