Levi Strauss & Co has appointed Katia Walsh as senior vice president and chief strategy and artificial intelligence officer.

Effective from April 29, Walsh will be responsible for helping the fashion retailer translate data analytics into major decisions for the business.

She will also support Levi’s global business across innovation incubation, new business models and strategic growth initiatives.

Walsh will report to Levi’s chief executive and president Chip Bergh.

“Katia’s expertise in data and analytics, including big data platforms, analytics services, machine learning products, and digital solutions will be essential to setting Levi’s on a course of continued industry leadership,” Bergh said.

Walsh’s previous experience involves working as chief data and analytics officer at Vodafone, where she was responsible for offering the company a proactive experience as part of its digital transformation.

She is also a member of British retailer River Island’s digital advisory board.

“Levi’s is more than an iconic company; it’s also an innovation leader across industries,” Walsh said.

“Strategic harnessing of data and machine learning will help position it for its next 165 years, and I look forward to contributing to its continued growth.”
