River Island has revealed plans to expand its sustainable take-back scheme as part of its partnership with Reskinned.

The fashion retailer launched the scheme with the repair and resale specialist last April cross 25 UK stores.

The service allows shoppers to return up to 10kg of clothing in return for a £5 gift voucher which they can spend in-store or online for purchases over £40.

River Island said it will also be launching fashion upcycling workshops, with the first one featuring at its Marble Arch store on 18 and 19 February in time for London Fashion Week.

Other workshops are planned for River Island’s Liverpool Church Street and Lakeside stores on 22 and 23 February respectively.

The retailer revealed its sustainability strategy last August, called “The Kind Society”, which has 12 key commitments.

The strategy is aligned to the United Nations Sustainability Goals, focusing on four “Ps”: people, planet, principles and partners.
