Joules launches resale platform after Next calls off takeover talks

// The resale platform will aim to reduce waste by offering customers pre-loved and repaired Joules clothing

Joules has launched a resale platform as part of its ‘Joules ReWear’ programme to help reduce the amount of clothing that ends up in landfill.

The resale platform, which is part of its partnership with clothing platform Reskinned, will offer Joules customers the chance to buy any pre-loved and repaired Joules clothing.

The Joules ReWear online shop will offer customers new styles from classic pieces at low prices.

The clothing passes a thorough grading process, where quality and condition are closely checked, and ozone-cleansing is carried out.

Each piece is handpicked and curated by the Reskinned team, who certify that every garment is in its best condition and ready to be resold.

Joules’ initial takeback scheme with Reskinned launched in April, with the aim of enabling customers to return pre-loved Joules clothing, footwear or accessories, in any condition, to extend their life.

“We recognise the huge importance of doing what we can to reduce waste and improve the circularity of our industry, and Reskinned’s efforts align closely with our Responsibly Joules framework,” Joules corporate social responsibility manager, Ruby Fowler said.

“These services offer convenience for customers and new life for pre-loved clothes. It’s a win-win, both for our customers and the planet.”

Last week, Next ended its talks to acquire a stake in Joules.

The breakdown in talks comes as a blow to Joules, which hired KPMG earlier this summer as it sought a cash lifeline.

Despite the talks ending, Joules said it was still in discussions with Next’s over adopting its Next Total Platform online services.
