Zalando has said it will expand its sustainable fashion range amid customer demand for sustainability.

The new sustainable collection will include over 15,000 items from more than 240 different brands such as Patagonia and Veja.

In the next couple of weeks, the fashion ecommerce will extend the range to include Ecoalf, Mud Jeans, Swe-s, Girlfriend Collective, and Stripe + Stare.

Zalando said it will highlight items made with sustainable materials by using a sustainability flag.

“Our ambition is to provide customers with a bigger assortment to choose from, clearer information to choose with, and all the inspiration they need to make more sustainable choices,” Zalando vice president of womenswear, Sara Diez said.

“Onboarding these new brands is an important step on our journey, and we’ll focus on adding more sustainable choices to our assortment in the upcoming months.”

In addition to the sustainable ranges, Zalando has announced it will be replacing its plastic Beauty Bags with paper.
