Marks & Spencer has reportedly hired former Miss Selfridge buying and design director Alex Dimitriu as the new head of menswear buying.

Dimitriu previously served as senior buyer for M&S in 1998, before being promoted to head of buying in 2013.

She had been in her role at Miss Selfridge since March 2018, before working as womenswear director at New Look between March 2017 and February 2018 and buying, merchandising and design director from August 2016 to October 2017.

M&S menswear director Wes Taylor has said Dimitriu’s “great sense of style and strong leadership skills” will help the pace of the business’ transformation,” Drapers reported.

Dimitriu will work closely with Karen Hall, who joined M&S last year as head of design and the wider menswear management team.

On Tuesday, M&S hired Eoin Tonge as its new chief financial officer, replacing Humphrey Singer who quit shortly after the retailer was demoted from the FTSE 100 last September.
