Selfridges’ new Christmas Gift Shop has opened across its UK shops as Retail Gazette visits the London flagship store.
The luxury department retailer has called it its “biggest Christmas Shop to date” as it reveals the store is 20% bigger than last year.
The “must-visit destination” is located on the fourth floor of the Oxford Street store, and offers a photo opportunity upon entrance.
Selfridges told Retail Gazette that ‘Base 2’ of the shop will open in early November and will feature products such as games and entertainment.
Selfridges said half of the decorations are exclusive and cannot be found anywhere else in the UK.
The retailer found that searching for Christmas decorations on its website have risen by 60%, while searches for advent calendars have risen by 350%.
A total of 60% of the decorations available are Project Earth labelled as being more planet-friendly options.
As customers enter the shop, they’re greeted with a personalisation desk where they have the chance to engrave their name or initials on products such as baubles, Christmas sacks, and gift boxes.

Visitors can find decorations, lighting, ornaments, advent calendars, gift wrap and cards. Selfridges said the Christmas Shop will showcase its favourite seasonal product stories.
The gift shop also offers tailored services such as helping customers choose the right lights for their Christmas trees.
Shoppers can take advantage of the Christmas ribbon service where Selfridges colleagues measure and cut the required length for them.
