H&M has confirmed it has the rights to sell and produce Justin Bieber merch following criticism from the pop star.

The Swedish Giant said it had been an official Bieber merchandise partner since 2016 after it was forced to remove the collection from its site and stores.

On Tuesday, the Canadian singer posted on Instagram and told his followers not to purchase the merch, which he described as “trash”, claiming the fast fashion retailer did not have his permission or consent to create the products.

H&M said in a statement: “Justin’s license holder has confirmed that H&M had the right contracts in place and followed all proper approval procedures for each selected design.

“Nevertheless, out of respect for Justin, we removed the products from our site and stores, and we’re working to find the best way to make use of them.

“We have been Justin Bieber’s merchandise partner since 2016 and we are very proud of the work we have done so far.”
