Morrisons’ free wonky carrots for Rudolph returns

// Morrisons’ ‘Carrots for Rudolph’ campaign returns for another year
// The grocer is giving away 175,000 free wonky carrots on 22 and 23 December

Morrisons is handing out free carrots again to customers wanting to leave a treat out for Rudolph and his reindeer friends on Christmas Eve.

Over 175,000 wonky British carrots – which are oversized or misshapen – will be handed out to children on the 22 and 23 of December from all 498 of the supermarket‘s stores.

Following the success of last year’s campaign, which saw 10,000 wonky British carrots given away to the public, the grocer is continuing to encourage families to purchase wonky veg more often to reduce waste.

“Christmas is a magical time of year and we want to help our customers celebrate in any way we can,” said Morrisons senior carrot buyer Andy Todd.

“Our delicious Wonky carrots are hugely popular as they help our British farmers reduce waste and are a cheaper alternative for customers.

“We only hope the reindeer enjoy them as much as our customers do!”

The grocer is also handing out free mince pies and Christmas cake to customers that come into its cafés on 19 December to enjoy with their hot or cold drink.

Earlier this week, Morrisons also said it had increased the number of its click-and-collect slots ahead of Christmas after increased demand from customers.
