The White Company is looking for five new stores in London as it continues its expansion plans.

According to Drapers, various UK retail property agents have been sent a list of locations that the upmarket homewares and fashion retailer would like to open stores in, including Blackheath, Clapham, Chiswick, Hampstead and Notting Hill.

The expansion could see more smaller-format branches open as it is searching for 1,000 to 1,500 sq ft of space.

One property source told the title: “The retailer is looking for small London village stores. [In] locations such as Marylebone high street, they are trading really well so they’re trying to pick up more stores in those types of places.”

Founded by Chrissie Rucker in 1994 and led by Mary Homer, last year The White Company saw its profit double despite suffering from a lack of demand in its products.

The retailer’s profits before tax surged 17% in the year to 30 July 2022.
